Due to a slight detour I did not run at lunch last night with Chris. It sucked, but I was given info about what could be this years hot toy, so I had to go see if I could get some. I did. Enough about that.
So, when I got up this afternoon my mind quickly went to "I need to run" mode. So I jumped out of bed, checked a few things online, and then headed out the door. My goal was to take it easy and just let the road dictate the distance. As I rounded the corner toward Gibby's house I glanced down at my watch expecting to see a time close to 8:00. To my surprise, it had just passed 7:00. Kind of a shock to me, since I didn't feel like I was running that fast. The first mile ended up being right around 7:30. At that point I just tried to keep the same pace and see what happens. Mile number 2 was right around 15:00, but the heat from running during the daytime was starting to catch up. I ended up finishing a 5k in 23:43.44, which I was happy with. The only thing that sucked was that I felt like I was on fire the moment I stopped running. Damn sunshine!
On another note, I think that I may be ready for some new kicks. I have noticed the last couple of runs that my shins are hurting a little at the beginning of the run. It usually works itself out, but these shoes have over 300 miles on them and they were not very expensive. Not that the price of a shoe makes it any better than any other shoe. So I will keep you posted on the shoe hunt.
