If you have been reading this blog over the past month, you know that I have experienced some pain in my right knee. Well, I think that due to some proper stretching and lower mileage runs I have slowly returned to where I was before the pain began. I can only assume that I was putting in way too many miles too soon.
Last night I headed to the Y, due to the fact that it was 8:30 pm and around 38 degrees outside, and put in 7 miles on the treadmill. Everything felt good. I had that feeling that if time would allow it, that I could run forever. Unfortunately I have to leave my house a little after 10:00 pm in order to make it to work. So I had to stop, which to my surprise the runner on the treadmill next to me did not want me to do. As I slowed the treadmill down to a walk, she looked over at me and said "You can't stop now, just 10 more minutes. You are helping me keep my pace." Unfortunately I had to go. I know that I enjoy running with friends when we are outside, I guess I never thought that running with someone on a treadmill would provide the same motivation. I always thought it was just you against the machine.
As far as my training for the remaining couple of weeks. I plan on trying to cover the half marathon distance. I would like to have that in the bank, just so mentally I know I have and can go the distance. I would like to try and attempt the run this weekend. But with it being Easter weekend who knows. Probably my best shot, weather permitting, will be Easter Sunday. We shall see.
