Well, there is a little less than a week before the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon. I have been training for awhile and I think that I am ready. Yesterday around 5:00 am I set out to cover the distance of the Mini. I ended up making it the whole way without stopping or walking in 1:55:08. I am happy with that time, since my goal is to make it under the 2 hour mark. I think that I may be able to have a little bit of a better time on race day. When I headed out yesterday I didn't want to take off too fast and burn out. So the first couple of miles were slow and steady.
Yesterday was also Thunder Over Louisville, which is the big kick off for the Derby Festival. Although the weather was wonderful, we decided not to head down to the river and get in all of the traffic and crowds. I think there were well over 600,000 people who attended this year. We did head up to one of the overpasses near our house that has a great view of the Louisville skyline, where I took quite a few pictures. Here are a few for you to enjoy.

I will probably only take a short easy run during the middle of this week. Hopefully I am as ready as I think I am. If this one goes the way I want it to, I may sign up to run the 2010 Disney Half Marathon. I am planning on running that at some point, just not sure if it will be this coming year.
I would also like to wish all of my blogging friends Good Luck in the upcoming Boston Marathon.
Later
Thanks Brian... and good luck with the Mini. Can't wait for your recap.
