2 Miles, 18 Minutes, NO PAIN!!!

The title says it all. I rolled out of bed around 12:30 pm today. The weather outside looked pretty nice. So, I headed out for a run. I ended up running a little over 2 miles. I may have been able to go farther, but why push it? I am slowly working my way back. I was just happy to be pain free.

The total time on this run was 18:12.47.

Baby Steps

I woke up around 8:30 am this morning. To my surprise Autumn was already awake and was watching the House marathon on USA. So after laying in bed until around noon, I decided it was time to drag my ass out of bed.

I stepped out of bed and my knees felt pretty good. So I decided to go for a run. I headed out the door with the thought of running between 2 and 3 miles. All things felt pretty good until about the end of the first mile. At which point my left knee began to ache a bit. I chose to push on. I ended up only running a little over 2 miles, but I did not have to walk. So I will take it, (TWSS).

I was almost ran over by Gibby though!!

Total time on this run was 18:42.94. Not bad, but I have gotten slower from not running. Things should improve as long as I keep at it.

What was I thinking?

I woke up this morning around 6:00 am. My first instinct was to go and play a little Guitar Hero III. I then thought that I needed to go for a run instead. Part of that whole needing to get my ass in gear thing. So I checked the weather and was pleasantly surprised when the temperature was in the low 60's. So I threw on some running gear and headed out the door.

I thought that I would try and run to Chris's house and back. As I approached Chris's house my mind started to wonder if the light that I could see coming from his house was him awake. That way I could see if he would drive me home, since my body was telling me to stop! To my disappointment it was just the glow of his Christmas tree. Oh well. So I slapped his mailbox and turned around. As I made it out of his neighborhood my body was screaming at me. I hate to say it but I was forced to stop running and walk! This goes against everything I have told myself about running. After walking for a few seconds I was off again. As I started up the hill on Woehrle Raod I was forced to walk again. That sucks!! After a few seconds I was off again. This time I did not stop until I got home. The total time on this run was 43:50.96. Not too bad, but I had to walk twice. I guess that I should not have started out with such a long run. Live and learn.

So once I got home I fired up the Wii and jumped on the Wii Fit to see if the Holiday dining had done much damage. I was surprised. I have only gained about 5 pounds and was still classified by Wii Fit as having a normal BMI. Check it out:

So even though the time was ok for a 5 mile run, I still call this one a failure due to the walking. I guess I need to basically start over and work my way back. We will see how it goes.

Motivation

Let's see if this works.

I am going to take a cue from Chris and see if starting a blog totally for the purpose of keeping track of my running will help get me going. I don't know what has happened, but I have seemed to have lost my motivation. I was running almost everyday for about 7 months straight. Then the weather went to shit and all things changed. I have probably only ran about 10 times since it has gotten cold.

If I plan on having any kind of success at the Mini Marathon I had better get my butt in gear! So with that said, I will start keeping track of my running. Hopefully this will give me the much needed motivation that I need. I will take all of the encouragement that I can get.

Wish me luck!
